We Went where no Sane Person Dares to Go - the upperwestside to campign for McCani/Palin
On Sunday I went on the number 1 line to the upperwestside of Manhattan with my McCain sign and was accosted by three wimpy "individuals" who cursed me and said nasty things about McCain. Although I had no interest in conversing with these three individuals who could have been in the film inside the film, Simple Jack (part of Tropic Thunder), I felt honor bound to defend my choice of candidates. One clown told me, in a thick Brooklyn accent, that he is from TEXAS and hates Bush. I informed him that if he is from Texas, then I am from Alabama! As I exited the train, I yelled, "And Obama is a a Moslem". About 60 of us McCain/Palin supporters marched along Columbus Avenue from 79th Street until about 86th Street. We were initially greeted with a deluge of boos, threats and the rantings of one registered Democrat who repeatedly shouted, "f _ _ _ Palin". What a nice guy! However, we did receive many cheers and thumbs up from McCain supporters and our marches became easier and easier. I was astonished at the ugly contorted faces of the Obama supporters who, after all, have been told by their Messiah, "to get into people's faces". He was not kidding. They are taking that very seriously. In fact, I have been told that Republicans who online sponsored debate parties listing their addresses and phone numbers, have received threats. I was invigorated by our demonstration in spite of the abuse to which we were subjected. One of the funniest taunts: "Go back to the suburbs " and "You don't belong in our neighborhood". As if they OWN the neighborhood, and no, I don't live in the suburbs. It is important to do these rallies so that closet Republicans can come out of the closet and not be intimidated by the Obama lunatics. I would urge others to participate. We were also joined by Democrats for McCain. One loonie lefty told us to "read the New York Times " (the NY Times is the newspaper I use for wrapping dead fish in). Another wacko with a German accent called Governor Palin a "ho". We told her to get out of her rent controlled apartment for which we are paying! As they say, a good time was had by all. The Protest Warrriors would have been proud of us.

I won't ask why you have dead fish...
Robert Hornak and myself have spent many a weekend campaigning on the upper west side and can tell you that this account is quite accurate. I've been spit at while campaigning for Republicans on the UWS.
Yet, there are many reasonable folk up there and, as all battlegrounds that we are outnumbered in, deserves as much effort as all areas of the city.
Honestly, what's a little campaigning without a little saliva....LOL
