Dear Fellow Urban Elephants:
Welcome to the new and improved Urban Elephants website. After many months in redevelopment we are close to the official re-launch of America's leading urban Republican blog focused on both local and national issues.
Some features in the new UE.....
will be familiar, but many features will be new and we are also still working on some features that will be coming soon. One major difference in the new UE is that the open blogger section, which we call "The Herd" where any registered user can post original articles, has been having some technical problems. While we work with the programmers to resolve this issue, users who want to write original posts can email them to

.
In the meantime, the ability for users to comment on any post is available and we encourage members of the Herd to express your ideas and opinions using the comments feature and be part of what will surely be very interesting and insightful discussions.
Another major difference is that we now have a section called "The Trunk" where we will bring you original content from our official writers and editors. We are bringing in such esteemed writers as Herb London, Deroy Murdock, Niger Innis and many others who wil help make UE one of the most comprehensive blogs for center-right thought anywhere in the country. The best and most recent of these will be featured on our Frontpage under our slideshow of current events.
We are also working on developing some excellent social and political networking features that we will be rolling out in the near future. While this is in development, we encourage every Herd member to fill out their entire UE profile and to update it as new featres are introduced. This will help make UE not only the best place on the web for political insight and discussion, but a great place to network with other like-minded individuals.
Thank you for being part of the new Urban Elephants family. We know you will enjoy your experience here.
Sincerely,
The Editors

No in all seriousness I do recall that Blakeman ran statewide for Comptroller a good while ago and lost badly but do not recall to whom he lost. He was basically a name on teh ballot. I know the guy was dumped from the MTA board and I recall his wife was stepping out on him with Paul McCarty so I am assuming he lost his Long island home in the divorce. Still wouldn't he be better off running against Suozzi or maybe for City Comptroller if he is going to stay in Manhattan?
