If you call yourself a concerned citizen you should be outraged – I am. Now at a time of fiscal crisis when Washington should be tightening its belt and limiting its budget to the essentials, it has proposed an increase in funding (to the tune of $10 million) to an already expensive and dubious program dubbed “Title X”.
In the 2010 proposed budget the President wants the tax payer to spend a whopping $327 million in total on “family planning” which includes direct funds to abortions here in the United States and globally, and direct funds to highly controversial and unproven sexual education programs to children as young as the age of five.
Democrats and Republicans were in an uproar a few months ago over federal dollars paying for abortions in the healthcare “reform” bill, where is the uproar over Title X now? In study after study, abortion promoting industries have failed to combat teen pregnancy levels and sexually transmitted infections – we should be eliminating the program not adding funds.
(Hat- tip Susan B. Anthony List) Obama’s proposed budget will fund the following organizations under Title X:
a) Planned Parenthood – they are the largest abortion provider in the world and an already profitable billion dollar industry without government assistance.
b) United Nations Population Fund – here we go again with that fine group of nuts at the United Nations– they promote worldwide access to abortion and support China’s cruel and oppressive one-child policy.
c) Abortions in the District of Columbia - because Obama’s budget 2010 reversed legislation that banned federal funding of abortions in D.C., this budget will resume payment; and
d) Legal Services Corporation – this group engages in abortion litigation – wonderful – now the tax payer has to pay the lawyer’s fees when liberty organizations fight them in court to stop federal funding of abortions in the first place.
Obama’s proposed budget also strips away the already limited funding for abstinence only programs under Title X, even though it is the only proven method of reducing teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.
Title X programs came about in 1970, just two years after the 1968 best-selling propaganda book “The Population Bomb” which duped Americans and the government into believing that action to limit population growth was necessary to save the public from mass starvation, abortion became the natural solution to the nonexistent problem of overpopulation and three years later in the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision abortion became legal nationwide.
Hysteria from the “The Population Bomb” died down after man-made global cooling became trendy and saving the whales became more important than population control, but unfortunately the crusade for easy and cheap access to abortion never stopped and America and indeed the world has suffered tremendously by the lies promulgated by the abortion lobby for close to forty years.
The very idea of family planning is inherently private and the government has no right to “assist” parents how to plan or space children, nor do they have a right to educate children about sexual issues that are I am 100% sure without doubt better left to the parents. Plainly speaking, it’s none of the government’s business how many children I have, nor is it their job to teach my children about sex. It’s the people who enjoy the rights set forth in the US Constitution, not the government’s right to intervene.
The truth is groups like Planned Parenthood, the United Nations Population Fund and Legal Services Corp. are special interest groups that happen to be on the side of Obama. These groups supported the President - the President supports them – that’s how it works in Washington Obama tells us.
But don’t be too dismayed, the President will pay the price eventually; blatant hypocrisy is not an endearing trait – recall Obama promised he would not cater to the “special interests” yet he has been catering to them since day one. The voters have responded by moving away from Obama’s so-called hope and change agenda to a demand for restraint and fortitude.
My dear friends, this is a call to action:
Talk about this topic at your next tea party meeting, or talk with your friends and family over dinner, Title X funding is one part of the budget that can and should be eliminated. The government does not need to be in the business of abortion promotion and sexual education, call your Congressman, call your Senator, tell them to stop Title X funding because social engineering is a bad idea, tax payer funding of abortions is appalling to most Americans, and worst of all we are borrowing money from our children to pay for it – the same children they don’t want us to have.
Is this the America our founding fathers envisioned?

You should be outraged by the $35 billion we will be spending on Pell Grants.

"Democrats and Republicans were in an uproar a few months ago over federal dollars paying for abortions in the healthcare “reform” bill, where is the uproar over Title X now?"
It's because people don't know, Raquel. But with you on their tail along with other bloggers on our side of the aisle, they can't hide this type of social agenda, special interest spending for long.
Although I'm not a pro-life person, I agree that there is no place for this type of stuff. honestly, if the pro-choice crowd feels so strongly about having these "services" available to women, then they should stop sending their six-figure checks to Moveon.org and other radical Left organizations and instead send a check directly to these groups so they can fund these practices, including abortions.
Americans have the right to privately fund this stuff, but the taxpayer - many of whom are appalled by abortions, etc...- should not have to shoulder the cost...
