So I finally got an email from someone at the state YR office. Seems a few people in Bronx had expressed some desire to get involved before the election. The state YR sent this email to me and all the others who expressed an interest in organizing. A few people replied all to it. So that is a good sign. Well not that they replied all but that they simply replied.
I sent him back an email stating that I would be more than willing to take the lead since I've actually started up a club before. Starting one isn't all the difficult. Keeping it active however can be. However since the Bronx GOP is in such pathetic shape there should be plenty to do.
Anyhow the point to all this is we absolutely will be needing someone with legal skills to help file a few things so anyone who might be game for doing a bit of pro bono for this new group hit me up with an email.

Chance, it's gerat you are making an effort to get a club rolling. If you need any advice with making it a YR club for Bronx residents, let me know as I am prez of a NY county YR. I can also see about finding some of the folks involved in the Bronx Conservative Party. Yeah, they may not be "young" but perhaps they can help with reaching out to the youth. The Bronx conservatives are usually pretty active.

Hey Chance, that's great! It's about time someone in the Bronx start up a YR club!
As President of the Brooklyn YRs, I'd be more than happy to give you any advice or help in any way I can. E-mail me at BrooklynYR@gmail.com if you would like to discuss further.
Also, you might want to reach out to the Staten Island YR President, Anthony Reinhart, who's the NYSYR Regional Vice-Chair for New York City. He's definitely an important point person when it comes to the State YR organization, along with Chris Dziedzic, our State Chairman. You can contact him via the SIYR website www.youngrepublicans.info.

just remember that many of the most important GOP operatives over the last three decades came out of the Young Republican movement.
Lee Atwater, Karl Rove, Grover Norquist, Jack Abrahmoff just to name a few.
All of the above were "rewarded" with positions and power from thier organizing and canvassing efforts...

I know Fordham (where I went to school a long time ago) has a student Republican club. I don't know how big it is today. It's possible the other Bronx colleges such as Manhattan College, etc. might have them as well.
You can try to reach out to these groups, which can be helpful during local elections.
There is also a Bronx Republican Meetup group, http://republican.meetup.com/391/ I believe two of its members unsuccessfully ran for seats on the Bronx Republican County Committee or as district leaders.
As I have written on the old site, the Bronx GOP's problems go back decades to the early 1970s. So we shouldn't expect a turnaround overnight.
