If you haven’t heard of decorated Army Officer Allen West yet, rest assured, you will. LTC West is a decorated War hero running against Democrat Ron Klein in the 22nd Congressional District of Florida. The district is significant because it is a seat lost to the Democrats in 2006 that is poised for a return to the Republican Party. Traditionally a Republican district and lost in a razor sharp election, the seat is understandably vulnerable, but it is the candidate himself that is creating quite a buzz, mostly accolades, in Florida’s District 22 and nationally.
Vince Mariano writes in The Sunshine State: An Irregular View of Politics (August 1, 2008):
“Partisan liberal Democrats should have good reasons to fear the candidacy of LTC Allen West. Not only is LTC West a legitimate threat to make Ron Klein a one term congressman… LTC West also has the potential to become an effective national spokesman for the Republican Party by virtue of his commanding persona coupled with his impressive background and credentials…”
John Gizzi in Human Events (July 31, 2008) reports that the President of Zionist Organization of America told South Florida organization chairman Alan Bergstein to cease volunteer work with the West campaign or leave the Organization. This move shows that the Klein campaign is worried about LTC West’s rise in popularity.
“…if Klein is sending a signal for someone to give an ultimatum to a campaign volunteer for West, does it not follow that he is somewhat concerned about the Republican challenger?”
Speaking to Young Republicans and supporters in New York City (August 8, 2008), LTC West adresses government spending and misuse of American tax payer dollars.
"Congress should immediately discontinue the practice of earmarks to restore fiscal responsibility to an out-of-control Congress. Congress should remove unrelated projects from appropriations bills. We need strong leaders in Congress to stand-up to Speaker Pelosi and do what is right for the American people.”
LTC West has the energy, the backing, and the leadership skills to make a real difference in Congress. He supports energy independence, border control and protection, fiscal restraint in government, market-driven solutions to lower heath care costs. He is pro-life, pro-family and pro-American. What is there not to like?
It’s no wonder people are correlating LTC West's style and rhetoric with strong Republican leaders like Ronald Reagan and Newt Gingrich. LTC West has a reasoned advocacy for Republican principles and Party advancement that moves his supporters to action.
National supporters are circulating a Petition requesting that LTC Allen West speak at the Republican National Convention September 1-4, 2008 in St. Paul-Minneapolis. Link to the GoWest Blog to learn more about this petition.

“Because of Allen West this 34 year voting Dem is changing parties and 'Going WEST'. Republican Party needs to get this man and his message out front at the convention. He will turn heads, change minds and inspire legions of voters to vote McCain.”
LTC Allen West is a rising star in American politics, and who knows, the future first Black President.

It has been quite a while since anyone has appeared on the American political stage, who has the right message to deliver, is able to articulate his vision and policies in plain English - and possesses the education, directly-related experience, superior judgement and leadership qualities that demand serious attention from serious voters.
That is a long opening sentence but, it is barely a starter when it comes to describing a man who has a unique hsitory of serving this nation - and, who represents genuine hope for bringing all the 'right stuff' to the halls of Congress.
