The New York Times is reporting that NYS AG candidate and Manhattan State Senator Eric Schneiderman's driver hit a parked a minivan Monday night and left the scene.
The story is interesting because Schneiderman was leaving NY1 studios, where he was interviewed, and the minivan his driver hit is owned by a NY1 executive editor, Melissa Rabinovich. Also, Schneiderman's driver is Rachael Kagan, Elena Kagan's 22-year-old niece.
Rabinovich claims that Kagan did about $3,000 worth of damage. Schneiderman's office claims Kagan "bumped" the car and had no idea any damage was done.
A few questions: 1) Did Schneiderman and Kagan get out to see if they did any damage? 2) Did they leave a note? 3) If not, how was the car (driven by Kagan and presumably owned by Scheiderman) was identified?
To his credit, Schneiderman apologized and offered to pay for all the damages. But as someone who wants to be the state's top law enforcement official and in the interest of common courtesy, shouldn't he have at least left a note?
