In a stealth move that no one saw coming, the Brooklyn GOP will be hosting the two major candidates for the Republican nomination for New York State governor. Former Congressman Rick Lazio and County Executive Chris Collins will speak at the Bay Ridge Manor of State Senator Marty Golden (aka The Golden Prince)
We here at Atlas were surprised to learn about this fact, since the announcement that the two candidates would appear was released the DAY BEFORE Lazio and Collins are expected to appear. The release was sent by email from the Brooklyn Young Republican Organization, which was forwarded to us not long ago.
In what seems to be either a late, haphazard notice from the party or a a sudden, last-minute decision to host the candidates, the Bay Ridge GOP leadership has opened the Bay Ridge Manor to the public.
Here is the release sent out by the Brooklyn Young Republicans:
Former Congressman Rick Lazio and County Executive Chris Collins will speak at 6:30 and 7:00 on Wednesday, January 13 at the Bay Ridge Manor, located at 476 76th Street, off 5th Avenue, in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.
County Chairman Craig Eaton said, “We’re delighted to have two such fine candidates interested in our Party’s nomination. I invite all interested voters to join us and hear their plans for New York State’s future.

Bruno, a commentator on Atlas Shrugs in Brooklyn, said this:
"This is another fine example of how unorganized and inept the Bay Ridge GOP really is.
A last minute open-to-the-public event announced less than 24 hours before it is supposed to take place speaks volumes about how maladroitly the leadership of the Brooklyn Republican Party understands the political process. It is not surprising considering who is the point-man of this Republican fire drill."

these guys could complain about anything. I think it's good that they are coming to Brooklyn to speak in the first place...

Jay, do I detect some consternation in the tone of your comment above?

consternation is too strong a word, Stephanie. I'd say humorous dismay sums it up best...

At some point, no matter how much you disagree with someone, you have to give credit where credit is due. This should be seen as a good thing, that even on short notice the Brooklyn GOP is bringing in the 2 leading contenders for the nomination in an open public forum.
I get the feeling that is Craig Eaton was cleaning up after his dog on the street, the gang at Atlas would attack him for letting it poop there in the first place. C'mon guys, how about being a little fair and constructive for a change?
