After many years of intense debate, hardball lobbying and court orders, the NYC Board of Elections has finally chosen a modern voting machine system - bringing the City into the 21st century and into compliance with the federal Help America Vote Act (HAVA).
The contract was awarded to ES&S over Dominion, the two final contenders for the contract. Most observers, the technicians at the BOE who tested both machines, and the Board's commissioners by a vote of 6-4 all thought ES&S had the superior system.
