In a shocking surprise decision, the Nobel Committee awarded President Barack Obama, less than a year into his presidency, their Peace Prize...
The Norwegian Nobel Committee said it honored Obama for his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples."
The decision appeared to catch most observers by surprise.
The president had not been mentioned as among front-runners for the prize, and the roomful of reporters gasped when Thorbjorn Jagland, chairman of the Nobel committee, uttered Obama's name.
...they might has well have awarded him their Prize for nuclear physics - it was have been equally justified. Talk about lowering standards for the award. But it gets even better...
Nominations for the prize had to be postmarked by February 1 -- only 12 days after Obama took office. The committee sent out its solicitation for nominations last September -- two months before Obama was elected president.
...so Obama was "nominated" before he had even moved his shoes into the White House. I can't help but think that the Left pushed behind the scenes for him to get this "award" in an effort to stop him from continuing the fight against terror and the War in Afghanistan.
Oh and by the way, I just received word I'm also getting my first Nobel Prize - this for Biochemistry. The Nobel Committee really thought the pancakes I made for my son this morning were SPECTACULAR...

My personal reaction:
This is a payoff to silence the White House for the humiliation inflicted on the President and his wife for their failure to obtain the Olympic Games. The treacherous Europeans told them that their mere presences would ensure award of the Olympics to Chicago. The Europeans lied, and the Obamas were blindsided.
The Olympics would have been a substantive boost to Chicago and its political class, with new construction of Olympic facilities, and graft galore. Chicago walked away empty-handed.
The Europeans, realizing the rage this public humiliation likely has provoked in the Obamas, have compensated with the Nobel Peace Prize, which carries a $1 million cash prize. The empty symbolism of the Nobel Peace Prize, coupled with the large cash award, should suffice to avert White House wrath against Europe by buying off the President. After all, empty symbols are what Obama trades in.
A millions bucks should do it. President Obama is cheaper than the Clintons.

This is a joke. Whatever value the Peace Prize had has been dimished.
What war has he stopped? None.
I remember reading that the Nobel people wouldn't give the prize to Pope John Paul II because of his objections to contraception.
So it's all about politics.
