She may be our lead diplomat, but when it comes to playing second-fiddle to her husband, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton just can't help but show her emotional frustration...
...the line "the big dog doesn't take well to a leash" when referring to former President Bill Clinton sums it all up. Other news agencies characterized her thoughts this way...
A week after former President Bill Clinton traveled to North Korea to secure the release of two detained American journalists and stole the limelight from the start of his wife's first trip to Africa, Clinton was clearly displeased by the question at town hall forum in Kinshasa.
...this hasn't been a good few weeks overall for the former First Lady. Besides having her former President husband grab all the limelight for his "work" in North Korea, she was made fun of in this video made by a few Washington Post reporters that talks about what beer most Washington notables should be drinking. Hillary's was "Mad Bitch Beer." Of course the series was recently pulled.
Seems us at UE that Mrs. Clinton has some issues to work out and many are now starting to say that she's not that interested in the job she ended up with after last year's historic election...
A source said there's a growing sense that Clinton gave up her Senate seat from New York -- in which she would have "remained a national figure" -- for far-flung travels around the world that aren't getting much positive publicity back home.
Another Clinton insider said it's obvious she's not enjoying her role, adding, "She didn't want the job."
"There are moments, like in Africa, where you have to wonder how she's looking at the job. Is her heart in it? Is the world and the president and the way the system's set up conspiring against her?" Miller added.
Several insiders said there was also a sense that the former first lady was on edge because her husband was in Las Vegas celebrating his 63rd birthday a week early.
...although these comments are probably an accurate description of her feelings, you never know what to believe with the Clinton's when it comes to "spin." Hillary continues to portray herself as the scorned woman, yet it's hard to believe that this was a staged publicity stunt.
Either way, the Clintons are the media gift that just keeps on giving...

It is unfortunate that the translator misquoted the questioners question to Secretary Clinton. However, taking the question as it was presented to her in English, I don't blame her for feeling slighted. In fact, I feel Clinton was in the right to get snippy.
We just spent the last year with the media sort of implying that Governor Sarah Palin isn't cut out for a "man's job" and conservatives rush to Miss Reds defense. Clinton is hearing the stories about how the job she got was "second fiddle" and that former President Bill Clinton "one-upped" her with North Korea a week after they called her a "school girl."
There is a degree of sexism if you ask me. If a man, if you ask me. When a woman loses her temper or is constantly scrutinized, the media argue that perhaps she isn't cut out for the job. When a man is scrutinized or attacked by the public, are we seeing the same arguments?

"It is unfortunate that the translator misquoted the questioners question to Secretary Clinton."
Considering that she is responsible for very touchy negotiations with people who don't always speak english perfectly, I think this issue is much bigger than that.
How can we trust her ability to handle tough situations if she didn't even as this student to clarify what was being said?
She has "issues" and needs to figure them out before she takes another trip.
The Palin-Hillary comparison is not valid here, Danny. Hillary's is never called unintelligent. No one says she can't handle the job and this student was implying that either.
Palin, maybe because where she is from or how her accent sounds to north-eastern liberal-types, is criticized, essentially, for being a female hick. Big difference from the sentiment and criticisms lobbed at Hillary.
hillary lost her cool. She looked bad. her job is to NEVER do that...

Perhaps a better comparison would be Clinton and Rice and if Rice ever lost her cool while being Secretary of State.
I see nothing wrong with her losing her cool. We see men do it all the time. Didn't Bill once lose his cool on a television program BEFORE being elected and he still got elected? How about Arlen yesterday at his town hall "WAIT A MINUTE, WAIT A MINUTE, WAIT A MINUTE
WAIT
A
MIN
NUTE!!!"
or that one congressman who lost his cool to a doctor at a town hall in California and the debate turned into a a race argument.
Politicians lose their cool. I can agree that Clinton should've been a bit more statemenly, but I'm willing to give her a break.
BTW, story was Bill was in Vegas with his dastardly duo party cronies celebrating his 63rd Birthday a little early. I'm sure Hillary knew it and is also not too happy b/c these are Bill's wingmen when he would go out and "wonder from the ranch."

She's not "a politician," Danny. She's our Secretary of State. Whether she realizes it or not, Hillary is not running for anything right now and her work in Africa has nothing to do with who "she's channeling," but with expressing America's interests in the Continent.
Hillary, in the situation, exposed herself as someone who still wanting for other things...

This question was asked by a STUDENT. A STUDENT!
Even without the garbled translation, you would think that someone who has been offered EVERY privilege and EVERY advantage by American society could muster just a tad of social grace, give this poor kid a break, and chalk it up to inexperience and youthful ignorance.
After all, for foreigners, a PRESIDENT is something revered and famous; a Secretary of State is not nearly as important. (For comparison, how many Elephants can name the British Foreign Secretary?)
I know some people that worked the GHW Bush transition. They described Hillary as nasty, arrogant, and downright mean -- somebody that was compassionate to "the masses" but a true witch in the day-to-day.
Typical Yalie...

and, GOPNYC, she's our LEAD diplomat! can you imagine a tough negotiation taking place and a translation "error" or the mispeaking of a foreign diplomat sends her off on a similar rant?
Although they are reporting she may not "want" the job, it's starting to look that she may not be able to handle the job - because it's not the top job...
