Padavan probably will not stay on in the minority too long, although i hope that he does stay in office to help the Queens GOP.
Without the central philosophy of fiscal conservatism guiding our party, we will never win again. In a time where every level of government is looking to raise taxes and increase spending, the GOP needs to stand for something different and collectively say "no" to future madness...

This is what the GOP is up to??? Trying to cling to the social issue garbage again in an effort to stay in control???
Diaz is a Left wing pol on every issue except abortion and gay marriage. He's also, like the rest of the cast of characters in Albany, looking out for "number 1."
When will our GOP leaders learn...

the Rev. Diaz is a great man of courage as is his wife, Leslie, who served with me on the Board of New Yorkers for Parental Rights. To some of us, especially us PARENTS, this is not "garbage". It's a nice day, Jay: take a walk and chill out.

"a great man of courage???"
You see, this is why you're those of us reading UE shoudn't listen to your words of wisdom, Alibaba. you have NO INTEREST in the GOP at all. you only care about one issue.
If he's a great man, what about taxes? government spending? What about union issues?
This is what is wrong with the social conservatives - they have no interest in traditional small government politics. You'd vote for someone like Stalin if he was pro-life.
That's why we need to push these issues to the back of the room...

off your hatred of conservatives. You are very, very hateful. And you never fail to keep bringing it up where other people have not! You are truly obsessed.

you hate real conservatives Alibaba. You can't help but show that hate by saying Sen. Diaz is a "great man." He's a radical lefty on EVERY issue other than social ones.
What part of this don't you get. You are the liberal here, not me...

in addition to your being a Democrat, you hate the GOP and our platform. Feel free to discourage the Rev. Diaz since "we don't need his help"!!!!

This is when you lose me, Alibaba.
You know i'm a Republican who became a Democrat for a few months ONLY because the GOP didn't want to push Bloomberg to allow a city-wide candidate to run at the same time as him.
The GOP platform? There are 9 issues in the platform. "Values" is only ONE of them.
Why don't you ask Democrat Sen. Diaz, who you like so very much, what he thinks about the other eight - National security, government reform, economy, energy, environment, healthcare, education and crime sections of the platform.
I actually wonder, considering your glowing review of the Bronx Left-wing Senator, if YOU support the platform.
Being pro-life doesn't make you a republican - it makes you pro-life ONLY.
You keep voting for a tax hiking, big spending, socialist like Diaz while the rest of us look for a new path for the GOP...

I care less about who Sen. Diaz supports than what the GOP and it's leaders are supporting.
If the GOP plans on trying to keep control of the State Senate by making deals with socialists like Diaz I say let him support Smith.
If the GOP plans on selling it's votes for UFT and 1199 support like they have over the past few years, I say let the Democrats have the Senate.
If the GOP plans on standing for nothing other than GOD and Guns, I say let the Dem's have control of the Senate.
The conversation you and I have been having over the past few years, Alibaba, has CLEARLY proven my point correct - The GOP stands essentially for NOTHING if it simply sticks to a strict social conservative agenda and becomes as liberal as the Democrats on fiscal policy.
This is what has cost the GOP it's leadership role in government at ALL LEVELS.
Funny, but even for the issues you hold so dear, the path of being singlemindedly focuses on social conservatism hasn't worked. Because of you and your folk, Barack Obama is in the White House and the Democrats have control over all branches of government. Now they can appoint judges that will clearly support Roe v. Wade and will pass laws that protect same sex marriages.
If i were you, I'd start to listen to people like myself. It would serve your causes much more effectively...

that Rudy lost and that is what your anger is about. You need a lot of therapy for you to understand your problem. It is "because of me" that McCain got as far as he did - apparently, you did nothing for the GOP ticket, absolutely NOTHING. This is all about your support of Rudy. Once again: you support Malcolm Smith over Skelos? Way to go, Jay. Why are you on this blog? You are actively supporting a Democrat.

that makes no sense. You seem to do this again and again - losing your point completely as usual.
Stay on topic, please.
This has nothing to do with Rudy. I've not mentioned Rudy. I was talking about this on the old UE well before Rudy was an issue at the state or federal level.
I've consistently, both on UE and in the New York media - through campaigns that i personally was in or was running for others, supported fiscal over social conservatism.
I'm not angry or in need of therapy.
And, no offense, but considering how poorly McCain did in PA, it might have been better if you kept your radical rhetoric here in NYC where it couldn't do any harm. Maybe you are the reason why he ended up losing the important state....

in the nastiness department. How much money did you send to McCain? Was it zero or one dollar? Repeat: you have tremendous anger over Rudy's loss which is what this is about. Since this is my thread, you are banished from it because of your nastiness, radical hatred of conservatives and your active support of Democrats. Please get help!

LOL. I like that. And i'm sooo suuurrreee that everyone reading this thinks I'M the angry one.
My donations to the GOP in NY State are well known.
And unlike yourself, I've actually put my self on the line and ran. Shaking hands, talking to voters, working to convince them to support fiscal conservative policies, school choice, etc...
As i've said before, it's the policies your mouth froths over that have made the GOP the minority party. I have no hatred or nastiness for you or your issues. I just want them to stop being the only thing the GOP is known for....

good for you Alibaba. Maybe you are like the person who wrote this post - oh, you said you WERE the person who wrote this post (that's how i found the piece linked above).
Huckabee is a fiscal liberal and social conservative - exactly what i said you support and EXACTLY what the GOP needs to move away from...

to quote from BOB GRANT, that "notorious liberal" on WABC radio: "Mike Huckabee is the only Republican who could have beaten Obama." Case closed. You lose. And I happen to be a fiscal conservative. Unlike you, Jay, I can walk and chew gum at the same time. But you are one of those Manhattan elitists who looks down on real people.
